25-year-old Henry J. Heinz set up the iconic brand Heinz, who first began bottling grated horseradish in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia in 1869. By the 1870s, Heinz became a global sensation  and by 1957, people claimed that it was the best-known brand name in Britain. Today, people can find its products in homes across the world. Beanz Pizza

Can anyone recall when Heinz first started to make its pizza with beans on top? In 2003, this much-maligned pan pie appeared in UK supermarket freezer sections, in a deluge of tomato sauce, gooey mozzarella, Cheddar and what seemed like a strange portion of baked beans. Others weren't interested in eating such an unusual topping and it was soon dropped by Heinz. It came back to UK supermarket Iceland in 2022, but with mixed fortunes – along with a Heinz Beanz & Sausage Pizza.

EZ Squirt

Heinz released EZ Squirt ketchups in the early 2000s in the US, first launching with an artificially coloured green style, before adding a purple, blue and ‘mystery’ bottle to the range. Despite being a fun product for kids, they discontinued the sauces by 2006. A similar product, called Green Sauce, was released in the UK around the same time.

Classic Barbiecue Sauce

As the Barbie core craze swept the world following the release of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, Heinz got in on the act in spring 2024, announcing a collaboration with Mattel. The limited-edition (and vibrantly pink) Heinz Classic Barbiecue Sauce combined vegan mayonnaise and barbecue sauce. Available in the UK and Spain, the product launched to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Barbie brand.

Spaghetti Carbonara

Fans of traditional carbonara might want to look away now... Heinz released this tinned version of the classic dish in August 2024, and let’s just say people didn’t kindly receive its launch. Complete with spaghetti and pancetta in a cheesy sauce, social media users slated it for both its appearance and lack of authenticity, with many describing it as both stodgy and slimy.

Tarchup

The condiment giant announced the arrival of three unusual-sounding sauces in 2021 and, this time, the public took responsibility for their creation. Available exclusively in Canada, Heinz produced three mash-up flavours influenced by posts on social media. Tarchup, a mix of tartare sauce and Heinz Ketchup, was inspired by a Tweet posted by Arianne from Toronto – and surprisingly, it wasn’t as grim tasting as it sounded; it paired particularly well with fish and chips.

Walkers Sausage Sarnie with Heinz Tomato Ketchup

Neither Heinz nor Walkers (known as Lays outside of the UK) shy away from creating innovative flavour combinations. So, when the two iconic brands announced a collaboration in summer 2024, British fans felt both excited and skeptical. One of three crisp styles released, Sausage Sarnie with Heinz Tomato Ketchup offered a unique take on the British breakfast classic. Smoky bacon–esque, with a hint of tangy tomato, this limited-edition flavour (available exclusively in the UK) surprised with its taste.

Ginsters Beanz & Cheese Slice

Heinz is always teaming up with legendary brands for exciting limited-edition products, and British pasty company Ginsters intrigued fans with its partnership. Available exclusively in the UK, the Beanz & Cheese Slice was released in March 2025, featuring Heinz baked beans, mature Cheddar cheese and black pepper, all swaddled in a golden puff pastry casing. This grab-and-go snack takes the classic British combination of beans and cheese to flaky new heights.

Honey Racha

In 2020, Heinz once again combined two ingredients to create a sauce, we'd never even thought about – and yet, this honey-meets-sriracha mix worked brilliantly. American fast food chain Long John Silver’s even went as far as adding a fish taco complete with sweet yet spicy Heinz Honey Racha to its menu for a limited period.

Monster Munch Pickled Onion Flavour Mayo

Heinz teamed up with Walkers yet again for a limited-edition Monster Munch–inspired mayonnaise, which they released for 2024's spooky season and made available exclusively in the UK. Inspired by the crisp brand’s popular pickled onion flavouring, this dip was, as Heinz described it, 'scarily good'. Zingy with vinegar, yet pleasingly creamy, this one worked particularly well as a dip for French fries.

Kranch

A crispy French fry being dipped into a creamy blend of Heinz Kranch sauce.

This creamy concoction blends the brand’s signature ketchup with herb-loaded ranch and spices and the company released it in 2019 – and while it sounds a confusing combination, it kind of works. Available in the US, the sauce pairs well with foods such as French fries and chicken nuggets, and it's rather tasty as a base for fried chicken sandwiches.
